Registration with UCAS

For the full-time students of undergraduate studies in the UK, the UCAS  application (Universities and Colleges Admission Service) is considered to be the central organization that handles the application process.

There are two ways of registering yourself and completing the application process – one is, you can use the UCAS online system and the other is, you may go through the whole process with your college or school so that they can send your application to the UCAS for processing on your behalf. However, the confirmation of the deadline is important with the letter as it might be earlier than the date has been set by UCAS.

Alternatively, for the students who have left their college already or an international student who’s looking for studying in the UK, they will need to register themselves with the UCAS individually and should apply through the online system, by following the timeframe mentioned below.

Apply to The Universities Using UCAS Application

To go through the online application process you should follow the Apply and Track in the UCAS Undergraduate for the study of undergraduate for full-time. Here you will be able to fill the necessary informations and find out all the details related to the entry requirements. You have the option to choose five courses from different universities. But, you will be allowed only once for applying in a cycle.

The deadline is 30 June 2020 (Tuesday) which has been set by the UCAS for 2020 applications to be submitted. For a single choice, the application fee is £20  for 2020. But if the choice is two or more than the fee will be £25. The payment can be collected by the college for your entry or they may ask you for paying through UCAS directly.

A list of some necessary documents that are needed before the deadline of the application is given below:

  • Filled in all your qualifications, details and courses you have selected
  • Your personal statement in written format
  • A reference letter by a professional or your faculty members who know you academically
  • Payment prove of your UCAS application fee.

 

Point System

As the part of the entry requirements by the institutions you are asked to submit your grades in some certain subjects at the A-level or equivalent. You might also been requested with the UCAS Tariff Points in a particular amount. Though the system is considered optional, but some university admission staff uses these information for comparing their applicants.

How many references do you need for UCAS Application?

Only one reference is required on the UCAS Undergraduate application. If you want your uni or college to see more than one, you’ll need to contact them and ask if an additional reference can be sent directly.

How much does UCAS application cost?

The fee for applications is £20 for a single choice or £25 for multiple courses and applications after 30 June. For most courses, the deadline to send your application to UCAS is 15 January.

UCAS Application Tracking

UCAS Track will help you with the progress information once you get the email with welcome immediately after sending application. You need to enter your password along with your personal ID to sign in and use the online system.

It will help you with notifying via emails about the offers of the courses and interview calls. You have the allowance to respond to the mails if you want to.

If there is any change to your application you will be notified instantly with the emails from the universities. But it takes a few months to show you more activities.

What happens after UCAS application?

The first thing to happen after you have submitted your application to UCAS is the arrival of a message confirming the courses and universities you have chosen. … The message will also include your application number and your password for UCAS Track, the online system for following the progress of your application.

 

How long do UCAS Application take to process? 

Normally it takes 48 hours to process the UCAS application. Once your application has been sent to UCAS by you or your school, it takes around 24 – 48 hours to be processed. You will then be sent your welcome email.

How do I accept a UCAS offer?

  1. Firm acceptance – this is your first choice.
  2. Insurance acceptance – the back-up choice to a conditional firm acceptance.
  3. Decline – you’ll need to decline any other offers you get.
  4. Please note: You can only accept one firm choice and one insurance choice (if you choose to have one).

How many offers can I accept on UCAS?

Once you have chosen your universities, you could receive up to five offers from your UCAS choices. You can hold onto any offer you receive until all your chosen universities have made their decisions and then you have to choose which one(s) you want to accept.

Can I accept offers from 2 universities?

You are only allowed to accept admission at one university. As soon as you do so, you should contact all other universities to which you applied, and tell them you have chosen another school and are withdrawing your application.

Can you change your mind after accepting a university offer?

If you change your mind after you accept an offeryou may have to withdraw your application and will not be able to use Clearing to look for another course. Contact UCAS for advice.

Direct Application to The Universities

If you are willing to study as a part-time student or you want to learn from distance  then you will need to contact directly to the University for applying. Although there are opportunities for the international students to apply using UCAS but they may need to provide their proof of qualification to the university directly. You can contact your chosen institution to know about their policy.

 

Getting Offers

You will be notified via email about the offer by any university made for you. There are four types of offers.

  • Conditional
  • Unconditional
  • Unsuccessful
  • Withdrawn
