As English is known as the second language worldwide, whenever you want to immigrate to another country for study or work purpose you need to pass an English test. And IELTS is the one that helps in this case by certifying you with scores. It measures your language proficiency using a band scale of 9 (nine) so that the level of proficiency can be measured clearly. Band score 9 is considered as best. Only the experts can gain the band score 9.

IELTS Academic

The one who’s applying for the Higher Educational purpose or Professional Registration should take the IELTS Academic test. The purpose of this test is to check whether you are ready for the study or training by assessing you with some necessary features. Institutions that recognize IELTS widely support this approach. IELTS General Training

The one who’s willing to migrate to the UK, Canada or Australia or have working experience in the English-Speaking environment or wants to apply for training programs or secondary education is needed to take the IELTS General Training. This test focuses on basic survival skills in the workplace or social context.

Ensuring Fairness & Quality

IELTS respects all the test takers by avoiding cultural biases and accepts almost all native speakers’ English such as, North American, Australian, New Zealand, and British English. This test is recognized for its high-quality standards, reliability, and fairness by organizations and individuals worldwide. The topics that are covered in the IELTS test are general so that everyone who has taken part in the test can answer them. It has been done for the purpose of avoiding biases based on cultural background, nationality, gender, and race.

So the test takers feel confident to take part in the test. The IELTS test focuses on assessing the ability of practical communication. It features a face-to-face speaking test. To test the questions that they’re fair and appropriate a trial test is run using people from different cultures.

The IELTS test ensures the consistency and security of the delivery of the test through continual monitoring of examiners and test centers and rigorous training. It also ensures the reliability of the results. The test is taken under the highest quality controls, integrity management practices, and security procedures. These things are ensured by verifying and checking the test taker’s identity. The test always keeps changing so the test taker always gets a new unique test.

The marks are checked twice to maintain the standards. The test report forms are printed on security-enhanced papers. There is an online Result Verification Service. It ensures the consistency of the assessment of speaking and writing tests. Certified and trained examiners are selected to assess the speaking and writing tests. The examiners are qualified as English language specialists with experience of teaching the relevant thing or fulfill the defined criteria.

The writing and speaking performances that have been selected are forwarded to the team of IELTS principal or assistant principal examiners to be assessed for the second time by passing feedback to each examiner. The assessment is carried out further if there remains any mismatching with the feedback on the second assessment. Test takers have the opportunity to apply for rechecking their marks if they find the marks beyond their expectations.

As we said before that the IELTS is separated into four distinct sections. Reading, writing, listening and speaking. Each section has about 40 marks that are converted into band scores. Then all the band scores are averaged to finalize the result.

The one who gets 9 is considered as an expert user and it is assumed that he has complete command over the English language and has a full understanding of English with fluency and accuracy.

The one who gets a band score of 8 is considered as very good user of English having complete command in English with rare errors or inappropriate words. He has the ability to deal with complex situations but uses some inappropriate words in complex situations but also have the ability to deal with some detailed arguments.

Having band score 7 proves that the test taker is a good user who has had good command in English but has some occasional inaccuracies.
