UK University Entry Requirements for Bangladeshi Students
United Kingdom (UK) has been welcoming Bangladeshi students for many years and many UK Universities are very familiar with the education system and qualifications.
If you’re joining UK Universities from Bangladesh, the entry requirements you need to meet will depend on the course you want to study. UK Universities will consider all applications they receive.

However, to make sure you get the most out of your time studying with the University and have the best chance of applying successfully, we recommend the following minimum qualifications: High entrance requirements for UK University degree programs reflect the quality of the University. All Bangladeshi Students are required to have an internationally recognised English language qualification such as IELTS. The minimum score that is accepted for entry, in line with UKVI regulations, is IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.

1. Undergraduate Programmes e.g. BSc, BA, BEng/ MEng
A variety of qualifications can be considered for direct admission to undergraduate bachelor’s degree programmes.
Higher Secondary Certificate
Candidates who have successfully completed their HSC examinations in Bangladesh and who have also completed an approved Foundation Programme from a recognised University, they can be considered for entry to undergraduate programmes.
A Levels
Applicants with a minimum of 3 A levels will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes. Required scores and subjects vary from course to course and can be found in our particular University prospectus.
International Baccalaureate
International Baccalaureate diploma holders will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes. Required scores and subjects vary from course to course and can be found in our online prospectus.
2. Year Bachelor’s Degree
Applicants with a good 2-year Bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution in Bangladesh will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes.

What, If you don’t meet the Entry Requirements:
Most of the UK Universities provide undergraduate foundation programmes specifically designed for students seeking entry into the UK University.

3. Postgraduate Taught Programmes e.g. MA, MSc
Holders of a 4-year Bachelors
Applicants with a good 4-year Bachelor of Engineering/Science from a recognised institution in Bangladesh will be considered for direct admission to a postgraduate diploma or taught Masters programmes.
Holders of a 2 or 3 year Bachelors followed by a Masters
Applicants with a good 2 or 3 year Bachelor followed by a good Masters from recognised institutions in Bangladesh will be considered for direct admission to a postgraduate diploma or taught Masters programmes.
Typical minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirements:
- From 2.75 on a scale of 1-4
- From 7 on a scale of 1-10

Most of the UK Universities provide pre-Masters programmes specifically designed for students seeking entry into the UK University.

Postgraduate Research Programmes e.g. MPhil, PhD
Holders of a bachelor’s degree and a good master’s degree with very high grades from a recognised university in Bangladesh will be considered for direct admission to postgraduate research programmes.
